IIU concludes RCMP officer won’t be charged for inappropriate touching

After consulting with Manitoba Prosecution Services the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has decided not to lay any charges against an RCMP officer for an alleged off-duty incident.

The IIU began an investigation after an incident that happened during a November 3o, 2017 party at a hotel lounge in Winnipeg. According to the IIU, the officer allegedly touched and fondled several other officers during the social outing.

The IIU decided to investigate the incident after it was reported to them by the RCMP. It was determined that the investigation would be in the best interest of the public.

Manitoba Prosecution Services determined that the matter did not meet the charging standard and there was no public interest in proceeding with criminal charges.
