The provincial government is chipping in $3.4 million to help the city of Winnipeg hire 40 new firefighters and paramedics to work at a new station being built in Waverley West.

The additional front line services are needed to serve the growing population in the srea.
The city has announced the start of construction of a temporary firehall that will be repurposed when a new permanent firehall is completed.
It’s hoped construction will be finished in 2026.
It’s estimated the cost of these positions over a four-year period will be about $14.2 million.
