Winnipeg police have changed a 27-year-old man,
Maxim Dale GARNEAU, with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a man found dead at a Manitoba Avenue address on March 16, 2024.
Police had been called to the area at about 2:45 in the afternoon that day for a report of a person in disress in a suite in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue.
North district general patrol officers responded and found an unresponsive adult male who had been shot. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The deceased was identified as Robert Clayton SMITH, 35 years old.
On April 23, 2024, homicide unit investigators obtained a warrant for the arrest GARNEAU, and they executed it on him at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
Garneau remains in custody.
