Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old male in connection to an arson in the 200 block of Fountain Avenue on Thursday September 5, 2019.

Emergency crews were called to a three storey apartment building around 5:00 pm.

Police say that 35 people were evacuated from the building with one male taken to hospital in critical condition from smoke inhalation.

Colt Alexander Guiboche, who lived in the building, has been charged with Possession of Incendiary Material, Arson with Disregard for Human Life and Arson Causing Damage to Property for his alleged involvement.

Guiboche was detained in custody.
