Fatal Shooting in Winnipeg’s Central District Prompts Police Investigation

On April 26, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., a tragic incident unfolded in the 600 block of Flora Avenue, Winnipeg. General Patrol members from the Central District, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to reports of a male who had been shot.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Bill Brian Duck, was found at a nearby residence. Police provided emergency medical care for a serious gunshot wound, and Duck was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Duck, a member of God’s Lake Narrows First Nation, had recently been residing in Winnipeg. Family notifications have been made.

Investigators from the Homicide Unit have taken over the case and are currently seeking public assistance to help piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting. They are urging anyone with information regarding this incident, including potential witnesses or those with home surveillance footage, to come forward.
