Child identified and now safe say police

Winnipeg Police have re-arrested two suspects in a case of child sexual abuse after they uncovered evidence of sexual assaults against a five year old Winnipeg child.

The case first came to light in February, 2017 after police executed a search warrant in Winnipeg and found a number of sexual abuse images. At the time two suspects were arrested and charged with Possess Child Pornography, Make Available Child Pornography,Distribute, Sell or Possess for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

The investigation had begun in December, 2016 when police received a report from the public that child porn had been posted on a social media account.

The investigation had continued after the initial arrest of the suspects and the suspects were re-arrested and charged with a number of additional offence relating to the case. The additional charges are Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, making Child Pornography, Import, Distribute, Sell or Possess for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale relating to the images and videos seized.
