Shots Fired on Powers Street: Two Women Injured, Suspects at Large

A quiet afternoon was shattered by the sound of gunshots in the 200 block of Powers Street around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2024. North District General Patrol Officers were quick to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two injured women inside a residence. One of the victims, a 42-year-old woman, had sustained a gunshot wound. The officers provided immediate emergency medical care, applying a tourniquet and bandages to the victims. Both women, including a 39-year-old, were rushed to the hospital and are currently in stable condition.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects had approached the residence and knocked on the door. After a brief exchange with the occupants, the suspects were seen leaving the premises. Moments later, multiple shots were fired through the door, injuring both women. The suspects then fled the scene.

The Major Crimes Unit has been notified and is currently leading the investigation into this violent incident. The identities of the suspects remain unknown, and they are still at large.
