16 year old Winnipeg Police Service Dog remembered fondly after passing away on Monday

Winnipeg Police are fondly remembering one of their own after she passed away on Monday.

Police Service Dog “Cinder” had served the Winnipeg Police Service for 12 years when she retired in 2013.

Cinder was the first female K9 to serve with the Winnipeg force and was renowned for her abilities and feisty working attitude.

Born in 2001 as part of the WPS Canine Breeding Program she proved herself time and time again as both a tracking and drug dog.

Her tracking abilities and resulting arrests were legendary.

 

 

 

Cinder was the only Canadian police dog to be featured in the book “Badge On My Collar II”  a book that told stories of brave police dogs from around the globe.

 

 

Since retiring Cinder has spent the past four years as part of her handlers family.

Rest in Peace Cinder, you will be missed
