On May 14, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a distress call regarding an injured, unresponsive adult male found in the rear lane of the 400 block of Notre Dame Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers from the Central and North District provided emergency medical care to the victim before the arrival of an ambulance. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Leo Amus Caribou of Winnipeg. Family members have been notified, and an autopsy is currently pending.
The Winnipeg Police Service is appealing to the public for any information related to this incident. This includes any video surveillance footage that may assist in the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
