Infant in foster care dies, 22-year-old male foster parent charged with criminal negligence

A 22-year-old male foster parent has been charged with criminal negligence causing death after a 10-month-old infant he was responsible for died.

Winnipeg police say that the infant had been taken to hospital in critical condition suffering head injuries on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Later that day the child died of their injuries.

Police are not releasing the name of the foster parent or the gender of the infant to protect the identity of the child.

Winnipeg Police Child Abuse Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

 

The male suspect was remanded in custody.
