Vehicle fire sends plumes of smoke over Arlington Street Bridge

Just before the time change overnight at approximately 1:50 am, a News 4 crew spotted a nearby fire while at the scene of another incident.

Following the source of the smoke, they found the fire on Henry Avenue near Trinity Street under the Arlington Street Bridge.

When the crew arrived at the scene they found a fully involved vehicle fire and realized that firefighters had not yet been dispatched. Senior Field Supervisor Keegan Dridger called 911 as minor explosions erupted from the flaming car.

Firefighters arrived shortly afterwards and knocked down the majority of the flames. Fuel was leaking from the vehicle and the vapour was reigniting beneath the vehicle. Crews were able to knock down the rest of the fire in short order.
