Possible human remains found in Assiniboine Forest

UPDATED STORY

Winnipeg Police released more information on Sunday morning, April 19, 2020 about the “suspicious circumstances” investigation in Assiniboine Forest.

On Saturday April 18, 2020, police were called to Assiniboine Forest just before 2:00 pm after what may be human remains were discovered.

Officers surrounded a large section of the forest with yellow police tape as they investigated.

Officers from the forensic unit were on scene Saturday afternoon. The investigation will also involve members of the Major Crimes Unit as well as the Chief Medical Examiners Office.

The area the investigation is focused on is known as Preston Trail on the east side of the forest near Shaftesbury Boulevard and Taylor Avenue.
