Police looking for a suspect in Smithfield Avenue stabbing

Winnipeg Police are looking for a male in his early 20s in connection to a stabbing on June 13, 2020.

Police say a 32-year-old male was walking along the back lane in the 100 block of Smithfield Avenue when he was approached from behind by another male who proceeded to stab him several times.

The victim made his way to a nearby bar where he collapsed. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition.

Police say that they have not identified what the motive of the stabbing was and they don’t believe the victim and suspect knew each other.

Police are looking for a male between 20 – 22 years of age, Indigenous in appearance who was wearing a distinct grey white and black striped sweater.
