Two arrested after shots fired in the RM of Cartier

RCMP have arrested and charged two people in connection to an incident involving the discharge of a shotgun.

Police were called to Ferry Road in the RM of Cartier around 11:55 pm on Wednesday June 24, 2020, for the report of three shots that had been fired during a party. Pellets from the weapon discharge had fallen onto the neighbours deck.

No one was injured during the incident according to police.

When officers arrived they talked to the homeowner who denied having fired a weapon. While on scene officers found three spent shotgun shell casings on the ground.

A 29-year-old male was placed under arrest, a search of his person discovered a live shotgun shell in his possession. He was charged for his alleged involvement with Careless Use of a Firearm.

Police also arrested a 31-year-old female at the scene.

Both suspects were processed then released on conditions and will appear in a Winnipeg court in September 2020.

RCMP continue to investigate.
