29-year-old male facing charges for the homicide of an infant

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 29-year-old male in connection to the homicide of a 3-month-old infant.

Police say that on January 11, 2020 emergency crews responded to a report of an unconscious infant at a home in the Lord Roberts area of the city.

The child was taken to hospital in critical condition. He died four days later due to internal injuries, say police.

Mathieu Moreau from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault.

Moreau was detained in custody.

Police did not say what the relationship was between the victim and the accused but did say both lived in the same household.

The child’s death marks the fourth homicide of 2020.
