On October 10, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Guns and Gangs Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue. The stop involved an adult male driver and three passengers. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license and was carrying an edged weapon.
The Guns and Gangs Unit arrested the male driver, along with a male and two female passengers. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a cache of items, including a Remington Model 700, a loaded magazine, .22 calibre bullets, a decorative bullet belt, a black hunting knife, and various drugs. The drugs seized included 0.25 grams of crack cocaine, 2.05 grams of fentanyl, 1.00 grams of methamphetamine, and 38.8 grams of a cutting agent, along with drug packaging and paraphernalia.
A 23-year-old male from Winnipeg faces multiple charges, including possession of unauthorized firearms, possession of prohibited or restricted firearms with ammunition, possession of firearms obtained by crime, and possession of scheduled substances for the purpose of trafficking. He remains in custody, while the three passengers were released without charge.
