Stolen vehicle, speeding in a school zone, running stop signs ends in crash and youth arrest

A 16 year old male is learning first hand that his actions do have consequences.
On Friday, September 15, 2017, the youth was seen speeding through a school zone while police were conducting traffic enforcement there on McDermot Avenue and Lydia Street.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it turned north on Kate Street and sped away. Police did not pursue the suspect.
After failing to stop a number of stop signs at Bannatyne and William the vehicle slammed into a car travelling east on William. Police say the occupants in the car that was hit were taken to hospital for observation and did not suffer any serious injuries.
The driver of the suspect vehicle took off on foot but was tracked by a K9 unit and arrested in the 500 block of William Avenue.
The truck the suspect was driving, police learned, had been stolen the day before in the 900 block of Lipton Street.
The 16-year-old cannot be identified because he is underage but he has been charged with theft, violating sentence conditions and a number of Highway traffic act offences.
He was detained in custody.
