Two more COVID-19 cases Friday, changes made to public health orders

Manitoba Public Health announced on Friday, June 26, 2020, that there are two new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases is 318.

Officials say that today’s case is a male in his 30s and a woman in her 50s, both from the Winnipeg region. The male’s case is related to travel while the female’s is due to close contact to a previously identified case.

There are no people with the virus in hospital

Currently, there are 11 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba 300 people have been listed as recovered.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Manitoba remains at seven.

1,412 total laboratory tests were performed Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday June 25. The total number of test performed since early February in Manitoba is 60,775.

Manitoba Public Health also issued new public health orders today.

Travel restrictions to northern Manitoba and remote communities have been removed. People coming to Manitoba to work on film productions no longer have to self-isolate for 14 days.

Individuals who are self-isolating under federal or provincial health orders are now permitted to visit a family member or friend who has a life-threatening disease in a health-care facility, if they are not showing symptoms of COVID-19 and the facility permits them.

Public health also clarified the self-isolation requirement for sports teams. The only sports teams exempt from self-isolation requirements are professional sports teams from Manitoba and remove the requirement for Manitoba sports teams to self-isolate for 14 days before returning to Manitoba.
