On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, just after 11:00 am a 64, year-old male was anchored in Nutimik Lake fishing along with his 85-year-old mother when another boat approached at high speed.
The approaching boat had a 39-year-old operator on board along with a senior male and senior female. As the speeding boat approached it hit the fishing boat and launched over it before stopped a short distance away.
RCMP say that both boats were able to make it to shore. The 85-year-old female was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The fishing boat suffered significant damages in the collision.
Police say alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
The investigation continues.
