Teen charged after stabbing and killing 17 year old male

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old male with Manslaughter after he allegedly stabbed another 17-year-old male.
It happened on August 6, 2017, at a residence in the 1200 block of Court Avenue.
Police were called to the scene around 3:40 am after being called about a disturbance.
When officers arrived they found the victim suffering from wounds consistent with being stabbed. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.
Police say that the victim was stabbed inside the residence but he was located outside by emergency responders. A large gathering of young people were in the home at the time of the stabbing. Police are not sure at this point if the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the incident.
The 17-year-old suspect cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he is a minor.
He was detained in custody.
Investigators and the forensic unit spent most of the day Sunday gathering evidence.
Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
