One death and 54 new cases of COVID-19 identified Friday

54 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. One case has been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 53. One additional death was reported due to the virus.

The person who died from COVID-19 is identified as:

  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to the outbreak at Golden Links Lodge.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 3.0 per cent provincially and 2.4 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 32,104.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • two cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 33 cases in the Northern health region;
  • one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • four cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 14 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,133 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 30,067 people listed as recovered.

171 people are being treated in the hospital of which 55 are considered infectious. 24 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 9 of them still considered infectious.

The total number of cases related to variants of concern is nine (6 – B.1.1.7, 3 – B.1.351)

904 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

2,069 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 534,021 tests completed.
