Male in his 30s died along with four others, 101 new cases

Manitoba Public Health announced today that there are 101 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province and five more people have died. One case was removed due to a data correction bringing the net new cases to 100.

Those who died from the virus have been identified as:

  • a male in his 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
  • a male in his 30s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Lions Housing Centres Personal Care Home;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. 

The five-day test positivity rate is 10.5 per cent provincially and 11.3 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 25,126.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • five cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • 12 cases in the Northern health region
  • eight cases in Prairie Mountain health region
  • 12 cases in the Southern health region
  • 64 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are currently 4,461 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 19,982 people who have been listed as recovered.

339 are being treated in the hospital of which 244 are considered infectious. 41 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 34 of them still considered infectious.

683 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

995 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 426,105 tests completed.
