Police looking for suspects after two teens were assaulted at a carnival

Winnipeg Police Service MAjor Crimes unit is investigating after two female teens were assaulted at a carnival in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West.

According to police, the victims were standing in line at a concession when they were assaulted from behind by an unknown adult female. One of the teens was pushed to the ground as the assault continued. A security officer at the carnival intervened and stopped the assault. The adult female grabbed one of the victim’s purses and fled.

Shortly after the victims exited the carnival they were confronted by a group of teens and threatened. As the teens tried to get away the group chased them and assaulted both victims. Security once again intervened and the assault stopped. Security was able to retrieve the purse that had been stolen earlier.

One of the victims was treated medically for her injuries, the other victim;s injuries were believed to be minor.

Police say the two suspects are described as:

  • An Indigenous adult female, approximately 5’4” in height, with a medium build and long black hair in a ponytail.
  • A tall Indigenous teenage male with a white hoody and black/grey jeans.
