Manitoba will be participating in Earth Hour on Saturday, March 26, 2022, and encourages everyone else in the province to do so as well.
Originally started in 2007 Earth Hour was a symbolic “lights-out” event to raise awareness of climate change and energy-saving initiatives. Since that time millions of people have participated by turning their lights off for one hour.
Earth Hour will be observed between 8:30pm and 9:30 pm. Participants are asked to turn off their light at home and in their workplaces for the hour.
The province will be turning off the floodlights that illuminate the central tower at the Legislative Building, including the Golden Boy, in support.
