Fentanyl trafficking investigation leads to arrest of Calgary man

Winnipeg Police have arrested a Calgary male in connection to a week-long investigation into fentanyl trafficking in Winnipeg.

The investigation began in early March culminating in the execution of a search warrant and the arrest of the 28-year-old suspect. On March 24, 2022 officers searched an Weatherdon Avenue home and discovered 29 grams of fentanyl, 16 Percocet pills, about $30,000 in cash, a money counter, scales, vacuum sealer, two cell phones and a switchblade knife. When officers searched the suspects vehicle they found $3,325 in cash and an additional three cell phones.

Joshua Ari Matteo Saunders has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possess Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl), Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Percocet), five count s of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order and Possess Weapon.

He was detained in custody.
