Three residential fires keep crews busy Thursday evening

Just after 6:00 pm on Thursday April 4, 2019 Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to Magdalene Bay for reports of fire.

As crews arrived at the two-storey duplex they encountered heavy smoke. An offensive attack was launched and the blaze was under control by 6:30 pm.

One of the suites had fire, smoke and water damage the other sustained water and smoke damage.

Everyone wishing the building were able to get out before fire crews arrived. There were no reports of Injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were two other fires Thursday night, one on Sargent Avenue and the other on Johnson Avenue West.

Sargent Avenue Fire

The Sargent fire began around 5:00 pm and was limited to one suite in a three-storey apartment building. Residents were evacuated but were able to return to the building after the small fire was put out. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

Johnson Avenue West Fire

At 7:10 pm crews responded to a fire at a three-storey apartment building in the 300 block of Johnson Avenue West. Crews encountered heavy smoke on arrival. They were able to quickly douse the flames. Residents were evacuated and were able to return once the fire was out. The blaze was limited to one suite in the complex. The fire is under investigation.
