Cops bust thieves sleeping in stolen car

Brandon Police have arrested and charged two men after they allegedly broke into a home and then stole a vehicle.

Police say that on Thursday, April 4, 2019, they responded to a report of a break and enter at a home on Louise Avenue. The residence had been entered through an unlocked door and a number of items were stolen including the keys to the homeowner’s vehicle.

About twenty minutes later officers located the stolen vehicle running on the lawn of an apartment building on 9th street. Inside police found a 31-year-old male and a 36-year-old male asleep along with the stolen items from the break-in. Both males were intoxicated.

The 31-year-old was charged with Break, Enter & Theft, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Theft Under $5000, as well as Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drug.

The 36-year-old was charged with Break, Enter & Theft, and Theft under $5000.

Both men were released from custody once they were sober on a promise to appear.
