96 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Three cases have been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 93. No deaths were reported due to the virus.
The five-day test positivity rate is currently 4.4 per cent provincially and 3.4 per cent in Winnipeg.
The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 32,996.
Today’s cases are from the following health regions:
- two cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
- 51 cases in the Northern health region;
- one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
- two cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
- 40 cases in the Winnipeg health region.
There are currently 1,035 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 31,044 people listed as recovered.
149 people are being treated in the hospital of which 61 are considered infectious. 21 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 10 of them still considered infectious.
Public Health officials announced an additional nine cases of the B.1.1.7 (UK) COVID-19 variant today. All of the new variants of concern cases are from the Winnipeg health region.
The total number of confirmed variant of concern cases of B.1.1.7 is 52 and B.1.351 is 12, bringing the total number of confirmed variant of concern cases to 64.
917 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.
2,007 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 554,775 tests completed.
Public health officials advise of possible exposure to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern at Costco (St. James), 1315 St. James St., Winnipeg on Mar. 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Any person experiencing symptoms since attending the site should isolate immediately and go for testing.
