56 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths reported

56 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Two additional deaths were reported due to the virus.

The people who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at River East Personal Care Home; and
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 3.3 per cent provincially and 2.3 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 32,225.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • one cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 27 cases in the Northern health region;
  • one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • three cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 24 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,130 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 30,188 people listed as recovered.

159 people are being treated in the hospital of which 48 are considered infectious. 22 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with nine of them still considered infectious.

The total number of confirmed cases related to variants of concern is nine (6 – B.1.1.7, 3 – B.1.351)

907 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,677 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 537.369 tests completed.
