135 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths reported

135 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province which includes cases from Sunday and Monday due to the holiday. Two deaths were reported today due to the virus.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 5.1 per cent provincially and 4.3 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 34,487.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • three case in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 43 cases in the Northern health region;
  • 19 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • fseven cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 63 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,280 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 32,267 people listed as recovered.

141 people are being treated in the hospital of which 66 are considered infectious. 29 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 13 of them still considered infectious.

The total number of confirmed variant of concern cases of B.1.1.7 is 235 and B.1.351 is 20. 15 variants of concern cases have not been categorized bringing the total number of confirmed variant of concern cases to 270.

940 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,352 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 590,987 tests completed.
