Manitoba is having to reschedule 18 immunization pop-up clinics due to a lack of supply of the Moderna vaccine.
On Monday, April 5, 2021, the province announced that pop-up clinics scheduled between April 12 to 15 across the province will need to be rescheduled once the supply disruption has concluded. About 7,200 will be affected by the cancellations.
Appointments already made in pop-up clinics scheduled for this week will be honoured but the province says they will not be booking any additional appointments. The pop-up clinics scheduled for this week are in Glendora, Matheson Island, Pine Dock, Faulkner, Whitemouth and Piney.
On Saturday vaccinations hit another milestone in the province with 200,000 shot now administered.
“Every day, thousands of Manitobans are protecting themselves and the people they love by choosing to get the vaccine,” said Health and Seniors Care Minister Heather Stefanson. “This is an incredible team effort, beginning with the public and extending to the dedicated people who are working at the various super sites, pop-up clinics and Focused Immunization Teams, along with all of our partners.”
Currently eligibility at super sites and pop-up clinics remains at those 64 and older and First Nation people aged 44 and older.
To date Manitoba has received 372,030 doses of vaccine and has administered 210,088.
