Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two fires on Sunday evening, April 4, 2021.
Dufferin Avenue
At 8:00 pm emergency crews were sent to a multi-family residence in the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue. Smoke and flames were coming from the structure and an offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 8:23 pm.
Everyone in the building were able to get out but one person was assessed on scene by paramedics then taken to hospital in unstable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Manila Road
A second fire on Manila Road brought crews to the scene around 8:09 pm.
Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the single-family bungalow as firefighters arrived. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control by about 8:20 pm.
Everyone had self evacuated before crews arrived but firefighters did find some pets in the home and reunited them with their owners.
Fire officials say the fire is believed to have been caused by unattended cooking.
