Health officials announce one more presumptive COVID-19 case

Late Monday afternoon, March 16, 2020, Manitoba Public Health announced the addition on one presumptive case of COVID-19 bringing the total number of cases in Manitoba to 8.

Officials say a male in his 80s was exposed while away travelling.

Patient contact and public health investigations are still being conducted for this case.

Health officials also stated on Monday that patients waiting for surgery may have their procedures postponed.

They say surgeons will determine if a procedure can be safely delayed for up to three months or longer without any significant health effects on the patient.

Patients affected by cancellations include those over 70, with significant underlying health conditions and who are immune compromised.

Patients who are affected by cancellations will be contacted.
