Covid-19 cases continue to climb across southern Manitoba

Manitoba Public Health announced 32 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, August 28, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,096.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.3 per cent.

18 of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, eight new cases in the Southern Health region, seven cases in the Winnipeg Health region, one case in the Interlake-eastern Regional Health Authority.

Public health says that 14 of the cases announced today are close contacts of previously-announced cases.

Five people are reported being treated for the virus in hospital with one person currently in intensive care.

There are currently 418 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 664 people listed as recovered.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 14.

1,252 laboratory tests were completed on Thursday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 132,085.
