One additional death Monday due to COVID-19

1 new case of COVID-19 has been identified in Manitoba on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases remain at 282.

Health officials reported that a male in his 70s from the Southern Health region has died due to COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths to seven.

Four people are currently being treated in hospital for the virus with no patients in intensive care.

238 people have recovered from the virus with 37 cases still listed as active.

339 tests for COVID-19 were performed on Monday, May 4, 2020, bringing the total number of tests performed since early February to 27, 775.

Testing criteria now includes all symptomatic Manitobans. Anyone showing symptoms still needs to be referred for testing by calling Health Links at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257.

Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr Brent Roussin announced that officials are currently dealing with a small cluster of cases involving five people at a non-healthcare related facility in the Prairie Mountain Health region.

The affected staff and their close contacts are in self-isolation while public officials conduct detailed contact tracing. The business and health officials are working co-operatively to test other workers and improve sanitization protocols.
