Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) and the RCMP are investigating the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old female in Waywayseecappo First Nation on Saturday April 11, 2020. Waywayseecappo is about 317 kilometres west of Winnipeg.
MFNPS was called to a home in the community at approximately 7:00 pm Saturday evening for a report of a shot fired.
When officers arrived they found the female teen suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to hospital in critical condition but soon died from her injuries.
Police have arrested a 25-year-old male in connection to the shooting.
RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Manitoba First Nations Police Service continue to investigate.
