Manitoba Public Health announced that there are four additional cases of COVID-19 that have been identified in the province bringing the total number of Lab-confirmed and probable cases to 221 .

The number of fatalities due to the virus remains at 3

69 people have recovered

20 health care workers in Manitoba have tested positive for COVID-19. 18 of those are from Winnipeg including 10 cases from a unit at Health Sciences Centre.

477 Covid-19 tests were performed at Cadham Provincial Lab on Tuesday April 7, 2020, bringing the total number of tests since early February to 14,708.

Dr Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief provincial public health officer said that the current case numbers does not mean that the risk of COVID-19 is reduced. This is not the time to let your guard down he said.

Manitobans are reminded to not attend gatherings for Easter or Passover celebrations. Gatherings that involve anyone outside your household is strongly discouraged.

Roussin also reiterated that all non-essential travel within the province including going to seasonal homes or cottages should not happen. An influx of people to regions of the province with smaller health centres could strain services if visitors become ill.
