Convicted sex offender released from Stony Mountain Institution today, August 1, 2019, and is expected to live in Winnipeg.
The Manitoba Integrated High-Risk Sex Offender Unit released information about the release back into the community due to the high rick of the convicted man to re-offend.
36-year-old Christopher Assiniboine was convicted in May of 2015, for sexual assault and uttering threats involving an 18-year-old female. According to police that assault happened while Assiniboine was on parole for a 2009 previous sexual assault involving a 14-year-old girl.
Assiniboine is subject to a 10-year supervision order and a lifetime weapons ban. He has conditions imposed as part of his release including:
- Not to have any contact or communication by any means, with a person under 18 years, unless done so under the supervision of a person whom the court considers appropriate
- Reside at a location approved by the Correctional Service of Canada
- Not to consume, purchase or possess any drugs other than prescribed medication taken as prescribed
- Not to consume, purchase or possess alcohol
Police say Assiniboine is at high-risk to re-offend in a sexual manner against both child and adult females.
