Man arrested after pawning stolen items from construction site break-ins

A 37-year-old Winnipeg man is facing a number of theft-related charges for allegedly being involved in breaking into locked construction sites, stealing tools then pawning them at a local pawn shop.

Police say that Wesley Dean Munro broke into two construction sites, the first on August 19, 2017, in the 1100 block of Portage Avenue, the second October 6, 2017, in the 100 block of St. Anne’s Road. In both cases, the construction sites were locked and tools were stolen.

Police say that the tools were sold to local pawn shops after each break-in.

On Monday, November 13, 2017, officers conducted a traffic stop after they saw the suspect driving in the area of Dufferin Avenue and King Street. Munro was taken into custody and charged with Break, Enter and Theft and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.
