210 new cases of COVID-19 and one death reported

210 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the province today. One death was reported due to the virus:

  • a female in her 60s from Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 7.6 per cent provincially and 8.2 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 37,808

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • 12 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 15 cases in the Northern health region;
  • 19 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • seven cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 157 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 2,093 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 34,747 people listed as recovered.

148 people are being treated in the hospital of which 83 are considered infectious. 37 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 19 of them still considered infectious.

2,784 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 646,981 tests completed.

The total number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Manitoba is 968.
