Saturday’s new cases at 166, two more deaths reported

166 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Two more people died from the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to the outbreak at Holy Family Personal Care Home; and
  • a male in his 90s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region and linked to the outbreak at Heritage Life Personal Care Home.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 7.3 per cent provincially and 4.4 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 29,446.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • 26 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 69 cases in the Northern health region;
  • 14 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • 10 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 47 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 3,526 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 25,095 people listed as recovered.

275 people are being treated in the hospital of which 127 are considered infectious. 39 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 30 of them still considered infectious.

825 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,946 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 475,748 tests completed.
