164 new cases of COVID-19 and one more death identified

164 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the province today. Two cases have been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 162. One death was reported due to the virus:

  •  a male in his 50s from Northern Health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 6.3 per cent provincially and 6.6 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 36,632

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • 15 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 30 cases in the Northern health region;
  • 19 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • 24 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 76 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,833 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 33,838 people listed as recovered.

137 people are being treated in the hospital of which 72 are considered infectious. 34 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 18 of them still considered infectious.

Public health officials advise of a possible exposure to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern at McDonalds, 217 Mystery Lake Rd. in Thompson on April 8 from 4 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.; April 10 and 11 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and April 13 and 14 from 2  to 10 p.m. Any person experiencing symptoms since attending the site should isolate immediately and go for testing.

2,785 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 630,143 tests completed.

The total number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Manitoba is 961.

An outbreak has been declared at St. Maurice Daycare Inc., in Winnipeg.
