ZOO | ORPHANED POLAR BEAR FINDS NEW HOME IN WINNIPEG

Rescued Polar Bear comes to Winnipeg

Winnipeg’s Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre at the Assiniboine Park Zoo is now home to a one year old, 100 pound female polar bear.

Rescued from Churchill the bear arrived in the city Tuesday night after it was found to be without her mother for quite awhile in the northern community.

Leatherdale’s Polar Bear Rescue Team, along with staff from the zoo made the trek to Churchill to bring the cub back.

As is standard practice the bear will spend it’s first month in quarantine which means you will have to wait until the end of the year before she is released into public viewing areas.
