A 38-year-old Niverville man is in custody after police found him in possession of a homemade “Zip-Gun”.
Around 11:15 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, police were on a call in the Glenwood area of the city when they were approached by a man who needed help because of a property dispute.
The officers went with the man to a home in the 100 block of Egerton Road to help sort out the issue.
Police say that while they were talking to another person at the residence they were told that the man who had first sought their help was armed.
The original complainant was arrested and was found to have a single shot homemade firearm that was loaded with a .22 calibre round.
Officers also found another eight rounds of ammunition.
Jeremy Jason Werbiski, 38 from Niverville, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Carry Firearm in a Careless Manner
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
He was detained in custody.
