A 32-year-old female is facing a number of sexual abuse related charges after an investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit.
Police say that in March of 2021 officers had responded to a home for a dispute between an adult guardian and a 15-year-old teen. While the officers were investigating the dispute the youth told them about a history of sexual abuse and procurement.
Officers took the youth into care and an investigation began.
According to investigators the teen was under the guardianship of a non-family member between November 2020 and March 2021. During this time the victim was given drugs and alcohol and told to perform sex acts with adult males and females for money and drugs.
Police say that the victim’s 12-year-old friend was also provided drugs and alcohol between October and November 2020 and on one occasion was sexually assaulted by the accused.
On Friday December 2021 the accused was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Parent or Guardian Procuring Sexual Activity, Procuring Person Under 18 to Provide Sexual Services and Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided by a Person Under 18 Years.
Police are not releasing the name of the accused to ensure the victims are not identified.
The accused was detained in custody.
