Winnipeg Police Service is investigating after a male youth was shot in the downtown area on Monday night, October 16, 2023.

Police say that the occupants of a white van confronted a group near Main Street and Pacific Avenue. After a short verbal exchange one of the people in the van pulled out a gun and fired it, striking a male youth. The youth was taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable.

The van was located about ten minutes later in the 400 block of Toronto Street. Officers with the Tactical Support Team located and arrested a female and male youth in the area. The male youth was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest. Both suspects were detained and are facing charges.
