Youth Charged in Violent Stabbing Incident on Selkirk Avenue

On the night of August 10, 2024, police were called to Selkirk Avenue following a violent altercation. At around 11:00 p.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to the 300 block after receiving a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered a male youth suffering from severe injuries.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service quickly transported the injured youth to the hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. Fortunately, his condition was later upgraded to stable.

With the help of the Tactical Support Team (TST) and the K9 Unit, officers swiftly located a male youth suspect in the 300 block of Flora Avenue. The investigation revealed that the two youths were strangers who had become embroiled in a dispute. The confrontation escalated, resulting in the victim being knocked to the ground and brutally assaulted with kicks, punches, and a machete, leaving him with life-altering injuries.

A 15-year-old male from Winnipeg was arrested and charged with several serious offences, including aggravated assault, robbery, possession of a weapon, and multiple counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He is currently in custody.
