Brandon youth arrested after he brings a gun to school

Brandon Police have arrested a 14-year-old male after he allegedly was carrying a concealed weapon at school.

School officials at Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School told the Brandon Police Resource Officer they had reason to believe the youth was in possession of a handgun and was showing it off to other students.

Just before midday police took the youth into custody at the school. A search revealed that the student still had the weapon hidden in the waistband of his pants. The weapon turned out to be an Airsoft BB handgun. The gun was not loaded.

Police say they don’t believe that the youth used the imitation firearm to threaten or intimidate any other students.

The youth has been charged with Possess Weapon and Carry Concealed Weapon for his alleged involvement.

He was detained in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre and is scheduled to appear in court today.
