17-year-old male arrested for putting intimate images on the net without consent.

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old male after he allegedly uploaded intimate images of a female youth from Winnipeg.

Police say that they became aware of the incident after the victim contacted them on September 18, 2017, and told them that intimate images of her had been posted online through social media. According to the victim, the pictures had been taken in August.

The Criminal Code of Canada defines intimate images as being images where the subject is nude, partially nude or engaged in explicit sexual activity.

Winnipeg’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit confirmed the images had been shared after they reviewed a  report prepared by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (Cybertip) on October 23, 2017.

The 17-year-old male was placed in custody on November 6, 2017. He is facing a charge of Distribute Intimate Image without consent

Penalties for distributing intimate images without consent range from up to five years in prison to fines up to $5000
