Four teens are facing a number of robbery and weapons charges after allegedly pointing a gun at one man and robbing another at gunpoint.
It happened in the Maples just before 7:00 pm on Monday, November 19, 2018.
Police say that 19-year-old male observed a group of teens trying door handles on vehicles in the area of McPhillips Street and Mapleglen Drive. When he confronted them one of the teens pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.
Minutes later a 37-year-old male was robbed near Inkster Boulevard and Airlies Street. The victim was walking through a parking lot, according to police, when he was confronted by four youth asking if he had any money. The man kept walking but one of the youth pointed a gun at him and demanded money. The suspects stole the man’s backpack and took off.
The four suspects were located by officers in the back lane on Inkster Boulevard and taken into custody.
A 14-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:
- Armed Robbery Using a Firearm
- Use Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Possess Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition
- Pointing a Firearm X2
- Disguise with Intent
- Possess Weapon
A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:
- Armed Robbery Using a Firearm
- Use Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Possess Weapon X2
- Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition
A 16-year-old male and 17-year-old male, both of Winnipeg has been charged with:
- Armed Robbery Using a Firearm
- Use Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
All four suspects have been detained in custody.
